Russian President Launches World’s Largest Particleboard Production Line in Kaluga Region

On April 14, the Ultradecor DSP particleboard plant was launched in Lyudinovsky district of Kaluga Special Economic Zone. Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated the production via videoconference.
The head of the Ultradecor group of companies, Ardasher Kurbansho, thanked the President and relevant federal ministries for their comprehensive support. He also expressed gratitude to the region’s governor, Vladislav Shapsha, for creating favorable conditions for investment in the Kaluga region.
The 22 billion ruble production line became the company’s fourth facility launched at the SEZ site since 2022. The plant is capable of producing up to 900,000 m³ of particleboard and 72 million m² of laminated products annually. Production is highly automated: with conveyor lines stretching about 5 km, only 200 people are employed on the line. The total investment in the company’s projects in the region has exceeded 75 billion rubles, creating about a thousand jobs. This year, the opening of a new site for the production of binding components is planned.
Vladislav Shapsha noted that a deep wood processing cluster has been formed in the Lyudinovsky district, based on the use of low-grade wood with subsequent forest restoration. He reported that the region has already begun training qualified personnel for the new industry. The governor also noted that the development of large investment projects has already yielded results. According to the results of 2024, the Kaluga Region showed a 10% growth in industrial production, and in 2025, it reached first place in the Central Federal District and fourth in Russia.
Speaking about the social significance of the project, Vladislav Shapsha emphasized: “We perfectly understand that with the construction of such modern technological enterprises, the municipalities where this happens grow and develop.” The governor recalled that a new hospital and another school will be built in Lyudinovo. The speed of the emergence of these social facilities, in his opinion, is largely due to the development of companies like Ultradecor.
As part of the live broadcast, the Russian President also launched two more enterprises – in the Moscow and Leningrad regions. The head of state congratulated the teams, emphasizing the strategic importance of developing the timber industry complex. He noted that Russia possesses a fifth of the world’s timber reserves, and it is necessary to build a complete technological chain for its efficient use.
